Systems Change & Advocacy

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Purpose
Despite gains in accessibility and inclusion, people with disabilities still face barriers that prevent our full integration and participation in social, economic, and cultural opportunities. Systemic ableism impacts our autonomy and well-being. The Center on Disability advocates for comprehensive societal reforms, inclusive policies, and attitudinal shifts to foster an environment where individuals experience equitable opportunities.
Our Current Priorities
- ADA Coordinator Coalition Building
- Emergency Planning for People with Functional and Access Needs Support
- Healthcare Disparities
- Disability in DEI efforts
- Current threats to disability rights and services
Our approach
We believe in “nothing about us without us.” People with disabilities need to be in key leadership roles for efforts to create and reform policies that impact us. We are the experts on our needs.
We believe in the power of partnership. We join, build, and support teams and their capacity to sustain the work long-term.
