SSI Monthly Payment, 2016
We used the Technical Assistance Collaborative, "Priced Out in 2017" data to identify the monthly payment to SSI recipients of people living in the community. This measure allows us to see that median monthly SSI payments vary from a low of $733 in many states to a high of $1,095 in Alaska. This measure is important because it suggests the amount of income that recipients have to spend in a month since recipients must experience income and other resources limitations to be eligible for benefits, although the individual may have a limited amount of other income.

Note. Social Security Income (SSI) monthly payment refers to the cash payment received each month by SSI beneficiaries. $698 per month is the federal allocation allowed for an individual though some states supplement this with additional funds.
