Percentage of People with and without Disabilities Age 25 and Above with Some College or an Associate's Degree, 2016

Education is an indicator that represents inclusion of people with disabilities. These maps show educational attainment of people with and without disabilities who are aged 25 and over. The data show that the percentage of people with disabilities with some college or an Associate's degree is lower than the percentage of people without disabilities. The U.S. average percentage of people with disabilities with some college or an Associate's degree is 27.2% with a range of 20.3% in West Virginia to 37.0% in Utah, while the U.S. average is 24.2% with a range of 15.4% in the District of Columbia to 37.6% in Wyoming for people without disabilities.

With Disabilities with Some College or an Associate's Degree This is the first of two color coded maps of the United States.  States have been grouped into four quartile ranges. The first quartile ranges from 15.4% to 25.6% and includes the states Connecticut, Delaware, Washington DC, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont & West Virginia.  The second quartile ranges from 25.7% to 28.9% and includes the states Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin & United States.  The third quartile ranges from 29.0% to 31.8% and includes the states California, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma & South Dakota.  The fourth quartile ranges from 31.9% to 38.4% and includes the states Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington & Wyoming. Calculation. Number of people aged 25 and over with with some college or an associate's degree with/without a disability divided by the total number of people aged 25 and over with/without a disability. ACS Table S1811 provides these percentages.
