Property Crimes per 10,000 people, 2016

Crime rates can influence the degree to which people participate in their communities. The data shown in this map reflect number of property crimes per 10,000 people across the entire population (not specifically those with or without disabilities) providing broad insight into which parts of the nation experience this barrier to community participation more acutely. The U.S average is 246.4 with a range of 151.3 in New Hampshire to 480.3 in the District of Columbia. Of the cities examined, Salt Lake City, Spokane and Little Rock have the highest property crime rates. Tampa and Boise have property crime rates below the national average.

Property Crimes per 10,000 people Color coded map of the United States.  States have been grouped into four quartile ranges. The first quartile ranges from 151.3 to 193.2 and includes the states Connecticut, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont & Virginia.  The second quartile ranges from 193.3 to 258.6 and includes the states California, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming & United States.  The third quartile ranges from 258.7 to 295.1 and includes the states Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, Tennessee & Texas.  The fourth quartile ranges from 295.2 to 480.3 and includes the states Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Washington DC, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah & Washington.
