Transit score, 2018

Access to public transit can be an important indicator for community participation in that it allows people with disabilities to get to places to participate. The Transit Score (www.walkscore.com) is a publicly available measure showing how well a city is served by public transit. It is a score of 0-100 calculated based on the frequency, type of route, and distance to the nearest stop. While data are not available for all cities, current data show that San Francisco, Washington DC, Seattle and Chicago have some of the highest scores (>60), and Columbia, Montgomery, Little Rock and Anchorage show lower scores (<23).
